Just as STC – and hundreds of nursery owners – have predicted, the last and current government’s ‘FREE’ childcare policy , which is in reality subsidised not by the government but by nursery owners, is resulting in hundreds of nurseries going out of business.
In the past four years, according to a survey by BBC News South East, 1 in 5 nursery places have already been lost in Kent and 1 in 4 have gone in East Sussex. That is a total of 14,525 lost childcare places.
Watch this space for further triumphs of this idiotic and unfair ‘policy’ by civil servants who just won’t listen.
The average cost for a nursery to provide a place – before they make any profit – is £4.52 per hour. The payback for ; free’ entitlement is £3.58 per hour. A loss of nearly £1.00 per hour per free place.
