About a year ago, I went to a talk by Sir Tim Smit, the man responsible for the atonishing Eden Project.
Here are three remarkable things he said which have remained with me. (I wrote them down at the time.)
Tim has kindly allowed me to quote him.
1. “Research shows companies with ’strategies’ perform less well than companies without strategies. Strategies force you to stay on a path which is useless, to save face. Better to stay flexible.”
2. “Research shows people with untidy desks are more intellectually organised than people with tidy desks. The latter forget about the things they have in files or piles.”
3. “At the end of your life say ‘I’m glad I did – not I wish I had.’ “

Peers Carter does not have a Twitter account. Nor does The School Transfer Company. We never, ever use social media. Our company is a confidential brokerage – not a gossip shop.
We are being targetted again by our Internet Troll. We know exactly who this is, having had positive identifications when previous social media troll work was taken down. He is impersonating me under the false ID of @PeersCarterMD.
This time we are taking action as the posts are not just childish but libellous and intended to do as much damage as possible to our personal and corporate reputation.

According to the Adam Smith Institute, there are about 128 proprietorial schools in Britain. Some open and close all the time but the figure is somewhere around that.
When the time comes, most proprietors would like to pass on the fruits of their life’s work to someone rather like themselves – someone passionate about education, hard-working and independent. And the generation of enterprising baby-boomers who own most of these schools are starting to think about their exit now. Not in a rush and not greedily – and certainly not to the wrong people.
The School Transfer Company usually has at least half a dozen small schools whose owners would like to retire some day – and they will be happy to show the new school proprietor the ropes.
We are always very pleased to talk to youngish teachers – ideally couples, one of whom can understand figures.
Our small schools range from as little as £300,000 leasehold to several millions. There is a small school within the reach of most young couples – and many include very good housing.
