Pick Of The Crop

Selling a nursery

As a general rule, unless it is in a very good area, smaller nurseries can be difficult to sell. The bigger the nursery, the greater the level of interest The School Transfer Company – STC – is usually able to generate.

The ‘Tipping Point’ tends to be around 50 places. Occasionally we sell nurseries with over 100 places. We can get very good results for these, so long as the quality of provision is good.

As with selling schools, selling a nursery must always be handled delicately and with care and discretion. Confidentiality will be crucial to maintaining the stability of the business so that key staff do not become restless or leave just at the wrong time.

Not only would leaks cause distress and a great deal of extra work putting things straight, they would be bound to affect the amount of time needed to complete the transfer and to achieve the best possible price.

The School Transfer Company has evolved a strict and careful way of handling all introductions and negotiations which is designed to minimise the risk of information leaks and damage to an educational business.

STC sells nurseries throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. These include European nurseries with an English bias or English curriculum.

There are several substantial buyers for larger nurseries (over 50 places) and the bigger the nursery, the greater the interest we tend to find.
